Preselection. Who didn't make the cut?

Former Geelong AFL star Billy Brownless was left out in the cold after not being picked for this month's State elections. Billy had earlier been tipped for the North Geelong post, after being approached for the position by Mr Kennett.

It was a terrible end to a long and complicated preselection process which involved mainly chatting about the Cricket World Cup over coffee with Jeff. But perhaps Jeff was right in the end to drop Billy. Take the following interview from ABC radio:

reporter: What are the big issues in North Geelong, literacy with school children, drug abuse? What are the big issues in North Geelong?

billy: Yeah, all those.

reporter: What's your position on the independence of the Auditor-General?

Billy: Yeah ...

unidentified: He does a very good job.

Billy: ... he does a very good job.

Reporter: What about the separation of powers, do you endorse that at all, or ...

Billy: Oh, yeah, yeah.

Maybe then, the government decided that celebrity or gimmick factors should take secondary status to say, familiarity with local issues or er... intellectual spark.

Then again, perhaps not. 24 year old Susannah Kruger, running on the Personal Vendetta platform, did make the cut. Here's Ms Kruger's response to being questioned on whether or not she supported her Party's plan to place a toxic dump within her electorate of Niddrie.

"There are discussions I need to have with various departments about how I feel on some issues," said Ms Kruger.

Real Jeff says "Feel sexy - and don't speak to anyone else."
