Egil's Saga

This is an Icelandic tale centred around Egil Skallagrimson. It is not a collection of short stories, but it is possible to extract individual episodes from this book. Egil himself is an interesting character. Violent, blunt and avaricious, he is also a poet and courageous defender of his friends. Most of the story takes place in Norway and Iceland from the mid ninth to late tenth century.
