On December 5, 1664, a boat sank while crossing the Menai Strait in the Irish Sea. Just one of the 81 passengers survived, a man named Hugh Williams. On December 5, 1785, another boat sank in the same place. The only survivor was a man named Hugh Williams. On August 5, 1820, 24 passengers in a stricken vessel drowned. One man was saved. His name was Hugh Williams.
