USENET AND NETIQUETTE

Whenever you make a news posting, it is distributed potentially to hundreds of thousands of users all over the world. Each newsgroup is a community of people who want to discuss a common topic. You should remember that you are interacting with this community when you post to a newsgroup.

The newsgroup news.announce.newusers contains several FAQs which you should read, including (but NOT limited to) "A Primer on How to Work With the Usenet Community" Please read these carefully before you post to Usenet.

An important point to remember is that postings you make are archived by various sites such as Deja News and Alta Vista. This means that it is very easy for anybody to find all your postings. Usenet is a public forum and anything you say may still be around in ten years time. Think carefully before posting.

You may also wish to read The Net Abuse FAQ which details behaviour considered net abuse.
