Annual General Meeting
Players' first official meeting for 1998. All welcome.

11th March, 6.30/7.30 Notting Hill Hotel
Trivia Night
Turn up to the bistro at the Notting Hill Hotel around 6.30 for a few drinks and a countermeal - the trivia begins at 7.30. Organise a team between 5-8 players in advance or just turn up and we'll find you a team.

    Oasis
    Based on stories 1001 Arabian Nights, Players' first production for the year, promises to be something tremendous.

    Oasis
    Based on stories 1001 Arabian Nights, Players' first production for the year, promises to be something tremendous.

    22nd and 24th April, 1pm
    Comedy Review Information Meetings
    If you are interested in working on the revue this year, there will be two information meetings on Wednesday, April 22 and Friday, April 24, both at 1pm. Come in and meet producer Mia Treacey, the potential directors, and anyone else interested in comic theatre!

    Lighting Workshop
    Free lighting workshop. Including safe practise using the Student Theatre equipment, a lighting demonstration, a chance to play with the equipment.

    28th and 29th April
    Intense Motion Auditions
    Written and directed by student Penny Weber, this play is movement and imagery-based, and involves the development of three characters' lives. Auditions are at Student Theatre on Tuesday 28th from 1.30-4pm and Wednesday, 29th from 10am-2pm. No preparation is necessary.

    Games Night
    Games like Pictionary, card games, Twister, Operation... or any other game you so desire to play.

    Late April
    Edge Movie Premier Night
    The Edge fundraiser movie premier night at Village Jam Factory. This night should happen sometime during the week of April 30. Tickets will be just $5 to see a preview screening of a soon to be released film. Details will be available outside the STOff as soon as we know them.

    Sound Workshop

    Gangster Apparel
    Directors Cut presents Gangster Apparel by Richard Vetere. Simon Palomares and George Kapiniaris (from Acropolis Now & Wogs Out of Work) star in this smash hit comedy from New York. Don't miss this madcap spoof about two gangsters and the only thing that stands between them and the hit of a life-time - their fashion sense!

    6th - 16th May, Wed-Sat 8pm
    The Edge
    Hook Turn productions presents The Edge, written and directed by ex-Players phenom Kiera Lyons. Its an exploration of the power people can weild in families; theatrically it explores the transference of behavioural patterns from one generation to the nex t, which is often an internal battle which has been physically realised through personified patterns.

    Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto
    Six young dancers from Soweto have developed their own dynamic and distinctive style of gumboot dancing. The result is an inspiring and exuberant show that is Soweto's answer to Dein Perry's Tap Dogs! The smash hit of the 1997 Sydney Comedy Festival, th e Rishile Gumboot Dancers of Soweto head to Monash for their only Melbourne season.

    This is to be the last social function of Players for this semester. We (the committee) felt it to be a universally approved method of behaving socially... that is, the most highly tested and proven way of interacting via a socially accepted medium.

    The Platers annual revue, entitled Prime Alien Carcass is back for another brilliant (and hopefully funny) year.
