Presentation Night
The Monash University
Volleyball 2002 Presentation night was a huge 'hit' and was a great way to
conclude the State League season. All were "dressed to suppress Tony," as
opposed to 'impress' and 'depress' him in previous years. It was a night
where the girls could dress up, let their hair down, and guys weren't quite
as sweaty for once. The venue was ideal and the photos of 2002 volleyball
projected onto the wall throughout the night, which brought back some good
memories of tournaments and let's not forget the Yarra Cruise (or can't we
remember?) (thanks for the memories, Appsy). It was a clever initiative of
the committee to introduce ping pong balls to each of the tables, which gave
members a chance to throw these little treasures at our wonderful coaches
and other crazy volleyballers who rambled on for far too long. Well done to
Slammer for proving to be an
entertaining presenter, but where was 'Mini me?' Yes, we all loved his
outfit! Thanks to Baz for the President's shout at the bar, due to all
volleyballers who successfully and simultaneously won games at one of the
rounds during State League. Congratulations to all
those who won awards, both trophies and embarrassing paper awards you can
take
home and make paper planes out of. We hope to see you all again next year
for some more fun and games and stories to tell.
Yarra Cruise
The Monash Volleyball Yarra Cruise was held on Sat 23rd
March proved to be a major success, with a healthy turn-out of 65 people and
fun had by all. A DJ provided most of the entertainment, and let us not
forget the talented, lovely pole dancers (alias Monash volleyball chicks and
friends who had only a few drinks). The bar was handing out beer at an
alarming rate, we obviously broke a record as the boat had to reload its
supplies shortly before the night was over. The weather was perfect and was
pleasant enough to gather a crowd on the deck outside. We cruised along the
Yarra, with a magnificent view of Southbank and we made our way towards
Williamstown and back and forth and back and forth. Thanks to all who came.
