Dance camp

Each year during Easter time, MDS runs a weekend camp for Monash Uni’s fun-loving danced-crazed people. The camp is organised jointly with Melbourne University Dance Club and is held at recreation centres outside the city. We aim to facilitate a fun and social evironment for dance lovers to get to know each other and develop friendships through the common interest of dancing.

The itinerary for the camp includes daytime dance classes led by the fantastic instructors of either clubs, informal lessons in progressive dances at night (usually taught by club committee members) and loads of opportunities over the weekend to dance socially and get to know fellow dance enthusiasts. For those who are hyper, extra curricular activities such as canoeing, bike riding, swimming, orientation courses (eg: ropes course, flying fox) and indoor games (eg: table tennis, pool, board games) are available for the challenge as the recreation centre permits.

Medal night

Come on and strut your stuff! Medal Night is held in September each year on a Friday night at Monash University. This is when you can showcase the dance routines you've been learning throughout the year. Whilst participation in Medal Night is optional, we would encourage you to come round and make a clean sweep of your medals with your moves on the dance floor. Besides, this is so much more exciting when compared to the more stressful classroom-type examinations! It’ll be a night to remember for sure.

There are events for all dance sport styles as well as theatrical jazz and hip hop. MDS usually enters couples as well as a team event for the progressive latin and new vogue.
