This will be held on the 24th March 1999 in room 703 of the Menzies Building. It is
the most important meeting of the entire year where we need as many people to come
along as possible. The current committee will be dissolved and a new committee elected.
People interested in becoming committee members must be club members and should nominate
for the post by the 17th March 1999, or attend the meeting in person. We welcome
anyone to run for the committee.
Wednesday meetings
These meetings allow us to communicate the latest events to our members. Types of
meetings range from writing exercises, to talks about aspects of writing, to talks
given by published writers. Unless otherwised advised, these are held at 1:00 to 2:00pm
on Wednesdays in Room 703 of the Menzies Building (also known as the Ming Wing).
Writer's circle
This used to be a regular meeting on Thursdays at 5:30pm in the conference room of the
Union building. There are presently no writer circle's meetings, but they will
be starting after the Easter break.
Magazine editorial meetings
If you want to help in the production of the magazine, then come along. It isn't
just the editor who needs to do work! Tasks to be done include selecting work to
be included, laying out, typing up and printing. You could also
submit material for the magazine.
Social functions
A great pizza night was had by all on Wednesday 3rd March. There is a
happening on the 22nd April. Be there or be square.
Workshops
In the past, there used to be irregular workshops where you could bring partially completed fiction along and work on it in the company of fellow writers. These will be starting again in April.
The Society for Women Writers Australia is holding their annual open competitions
for Women and Men. Short stories to 2500 words and poetry to 40 lines will be
considered. $5 entry fee, no limit on the number of entries. Prizes are $200, $100,
$50 in each category. Contact us for entry forms.
