The 1996 Australian University Sailing Championships (IV) was held at Wollongong Sailing Club on Lake Illawarra in New South Wales. This regatta combines top class racing competition with a week of partying, drinking and all the other things IV's are notorious for. Monash came did not do as well as expected (we had more boats at Mini IV than IV). The individual performances in boat races this year however were fantastic at the mini IV, but appalling in IV. If you can skull and sail (at the same time) you stand an excellent chance of competing in next years team. We came third Canberra in 1994, and this year we are hosting the event and hope to get as many boats competing from Monash as possible (ten wouldn't be out of the question?) If you are interested to know more about the sailing club see us during O-week, get our club newsletter "Dirty Air" and join!
