Community Involvement (CI) is a social action club, a group of volunteers.
We are not affiliated with any religious or political organisation.
This club is founded way back in the 1967, and formerly known as Social
Involvement (S.In). This club has conducted some notable event and many
s recorded in "Thirty Years: A History of Clubs and Societies at
Monash University 1962 - 1992" (editors: Edwina Hanlon &
Justine Copley).
Details are in Community Involvement Club FAQ page.
In 1993 we decided to change the name in order to match our goal more closely, that is to help the community, especially the needy. While there are a lot of other more vocal organisations, we believe that actions speaks louder than words.
Our activities are more down to earth, such as helping the community especially the one around us (in Melbourne). We are currently helps a number of social organisations by supplying volunteers regularly. We are also have some not so regular activity, usually suggested by members, such as joining Clean Up Australia Day, helping the Red Cross to raise money by asking donation door to door, and much more.
As students, we also have not forgotten our social live.
We have some parties
(volunteers are not boring) and also go out either
for a camp or just
a picnic. We are very active socially, and are very open to any interesting social
activities. As a member you can just throw in the idea during our weekly meeting
and together we will decide on it.
For up to date information on our social function, come
to our weekly meeting or
read The
Universal regularly.
Joining in is easy. Just turn up to our weekly meeting, or if you are around during Orientation week or Club week, just look for our table and sign in. Unlike other clubs, we do not charge for membership. It is free, and no catch.
