Sarah Turner from "Allow the Self" on Life, The Universe and Hardcore

What exactly is the self allowed?
Well, it's actually a quote from A Clockwork Orange.  There's this whole section where Anthony Burgess is writing about how the state can't allow people to be bad because that'd be allowing them to be themselves.  I thought it fitted my show because hardcore is all about personal freedom and calling people on their shit.

What is Hardcore at Monash?
Hmm, well, at Monash hardcore is essentially me and a couple of other people arguing about whether Mindsnare is a good band or not.  (Yes they are Justin, end or argument.)

Why a radio Show?
Because I thought it was important.  So many bands don't get any sort of representation or promotion, outside of the 'scene'.  I'm trying to spread the music.

So what can we expect from Allow the Self this year?
I'll be playing as much top Aussie hardcore as humanly possible, doing interviews and news.  I'm also going to be getting as many bands to play live to air as I can, like Embodiment 12:14 (Adelaide) and Mindsnare, plus more local bands like Snubfighter (right Nat?) and the Brotherhood.

Rumour has it there night be other hardcore shows on 3MR.  Will you allow this blatant intrusion on your turf?
Everyone knows that I'm ol' skool and tough while they are nu skool and sellouts!  Just kidding.  The two shows would be different in that I'm focused on local bands, whereas they'll be playing more golbal hardore and punk.
